“The heart has reasons that reason cannot know.” Blaise Pascal

Yes, God is speaking to us.  He whispers to us through our conscience within. He speaks through the sublime beauty that surprises us again and again. He woos us through art and music that move the soul. He gives teasers of His Epic Story  through the smaller stories we love, with their villains and heroes.  He nudges relentlessly through our heart’s unmet deep longings for a world that is, but not yet. He shouts to rouse us from death sleep, in our pain, suffering and misery.  He  persuades us through impossible “coincidences”, and personalized messages  that only we could know. Ultimately we come to know Him, not through intellectual arguments, but by the heart.

Until I can figure out how to do links,  I suggest the following books . . .

The Journey of Desire by John Eldredge

The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning

Epic by John Eldredge

Truth with a Capital “T”

Truth with a Capital ‘T’

Is there a Truth that transcends all other truths?  A Truth that is eternal and unshakable, that serves as a central and unifying Truth of all of history?  What if there exists a Truth that is not just another spoke in the wheel of many truth claims, but is the hub from which all other truths project. Would it not be the most important thing in all of life to find such a Truth? I am convinced that such a Truth exists, and that Truth is seeking us.

In my first article Truth, Real or Relative, I asserted that truth exists in both the physical and metaphysical realms. The second article, Truth and Tolerance, challenged the concept that we should regard all truth claims as being equally valid and worthy of celebrating in a wishy-washy attempt to elevate tolerance and diversity above all other values. In this last of three articles, ‘Truth with a Capital ‘T’’, I will be sharing what I believe to be ultimate, unshakeable, and eternal Truth.   Continue reading

Truth and Tolerance

Truth and Tolerance
Is it intolerant to believe you know the truth? Is it intolerant to say that what others believe is false? Is it intolerant to say that others are being intolerant? Hmmm.
The answer to these questions would depend on how you define tolerance or intolerance. Continue reading
